Major consumers like Indian Oil Corporation, Oil India Limited, Indian Railways and Coal India Limited are queued up to establish joint venture solar power project with Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam
GIANT power consumers are now inclined towards solar energy to cut back expenditure in a long run and ensuring their contribution in promotion of green energy in India. Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited is the centre of attraction in the country for signing lowest solar power tariff of Rs 2.97 per unit in the country at Rewa Ultra Mega Project.
Major consumers like Indian Oil Corporation, Oil India Limited, Indian Railways and Coal India Limited are queued up to establish joint venture solar power project from 250 MWs and above capacity with Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam. “Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a major solar power hub with establishment of major projects. Recently awarded tender of 250 MWs @ Rs 2.97 per unit at Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project attracted several major consumers like Indian Oil Corporation, Railways and NTPC for establishment of major solar power projects in Madhya Pradesh. Proceedings are underway to sign a pact with some PSUs for new solar power project. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation already signed a pact for purchasing 24 per cent electricity from 750 MWs Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project,” said Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Manu Shrivastava.
Manu Shrivastava, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that even after a significant growth in establishment of solar power projects, its share is still below two per cent of overall power requirement to register any significant reduction in domestic electricity tariff. A significant reduction in price of solar panels and other equipment leads to curtail price of solar electricity tariff. Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam has already earmarked sites of Government lands for establishment of new major solar power projects at different parts of the State like Morena, Neemuch and other districts.
