Mangaluru to get solar traffic blinkers
Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City police have decided to install 16 new solar traffic blinkers across the city. City police commissioner Sandeep Patil decided to make public initiatives more interactive and recently tweeted: “Let’s make our public initiatives more interactive. We have bought 16 new Solar Traffic Blinkers. Suggestions may be given of which important crossroads, circles, junctions you think this should be installed. Will give it priority #citizen participation.”
Speaking to TOI, Sandeep Patil said the traffic blinkers will be put up at important junctions that does not require a proper signal light. These blinkers will be put in junctions where there is not much traffic, but an alert message has to be given to the rider that there is an intersection ahead. “We have 16 of them and felt that it would be better to take the suggestions of the people regarding where they want it. We have already received suggestions for nearly 25 places and inspectors have inspected the suggested places. Wherever, we find it fit, the blinkers will be installed in a week’s time,” he said.
Public have requested for blinkers near Kadri Kambla Circle, Surathkal, near Jain Basadi and other places.
