Merging of thermal power with solar power by NTPC

Ministry of Power, vide its order No. 13/6/2015-OM dated 16.07.2015, has issued a direction that power from NTPC coal based power stations that complete 25 years shall be used for bundling with solar capacity being established by NTPC as part of Government of India’s plans for enhancing renewable energy generation in the country. This was stated by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today

The Minister further stated that Ministry of Power, vide order No.13/6/2015-OM on 17.07.2015, issued an allocation of 2000 MW of power from Singrauli Super Thermal Power Station (SSTPS) for bundling with solar capacity of NTPC.

Among the beneficiaries of SSTPS, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Rajasthan have assented to the decision. Jammu and Kashmir, which is not an original beneficiary of SSTPS, has consented for availing bundled power. Discoms of Delhi and Punjab have not agreed, the Minister added.
