Ministers’ meet on power, coal, renewable sectors on Oct 7-8
Union and state ministers will meet on October 7-8 in Vadodara to review the ongoing schemes and deliberate on issues pertaining to power, coal, renewable energy and mines sectors. The two-day conference will be inaugurated by Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines Minister Piyush Goyal. The aim of the conference is to review the implementation of various ongoing schemes/programmes and deliberate on a host of issues pertaining to power, coal, renewable energy and mines sectors, a Power Ministry statement said.
The conference will be organised on the sidelines of the International Energy Conference-SWITCH Global Expo organized by Gujarat government from October 6-10, at Vadodara. Ministers and Secretaries of states and Union Territories and senior officials of the four sectors and PSUs under them will meet to discuss issues like implementation of UDAY, 24×7 Power for All, Feeder monitoring, Rural Electrification Programme, among others. In the area of Renewable Energy, state wise review will be taken on issues regarding solar power, wind power as well as the compliance of Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs) and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).
In coal sector, deliberations will focus on issues like Import Substitution of coal, Third Party Sampling and flexibility in utilisation of the dry fuel among other outstanding issues of coal companies. For the mining sector, deliberations will concentrate on issues such as preparedness for e-auctions of major mineral blocks, setting up of District Mineral Funds (DMF) in states, exploration policy & minor mineral rules, among others.
