Mississippi Power looking to procure 200 MW of solar resources – EQ Mag PRO

Mississippi Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE:SO), on Tuesday issued a request for proposals (RfP) seeking to procure about 200 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) resources.
The company said the RfT will allow it to review market offerings and see if there are suitable economic and viable projects.
It is looking for offers for 25-year power purchase agreements (PPAs) for new generation located in the state of Mississippi. The projects should be of at least 20 MW AC and should be directly interconnected with Mississippi Power’s transmission system.
The utility will be accepting bids till March 15.
Mississippi Power generates energy for some 191,000 customers in southeast Mississippi. It has a generating fleet of coal and natural gas power plants, as well as nearly 160 MW of approved solar energy capacity.
