MNC to tap solar energy
Amritsar, June 9 “Walmart India has pledged to meet 50 per cent of energy needs through renewable energy by installing solar panels in all our stores,” said Krish Iyer, president and CEO, Walmart India. In a statement here today, Iyer said, “We are retrofitting lighting systems in all stores by replacing conventional tubes with LED, besides monitoring and tracking energy consumption to constantly be on track to achieve efficiencies close to or better than industry benchmark.” He stated: “We’ve a deep commitment to women empowerment in the country.” “Through our direct farm programme, we have strengthened our engagement with farmers by advising, guiding them on increasing productivity and sustainable agriculture practices and sourcing from them directly,” he added.
