In Detail : In a step to support farmers in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav declared on Sunday that farmers will soon receive permanent power connections for just Rs 5. Addressing a gathering of farmers, Yadav revealed that the Madhya Pradesh Central Power Distribution Company will roll out the new scheme in the coming days.
“This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on our farmers and improving their quality of life,” said Yadav. The scheme will benefit those farmers who do not yet have permanent power connections, making electricity access more affordable for the agricultural community.
The Chief Minister further emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing electricity-related challenges by rolling out solar-powered irrigation pumps. Yadav disclosed that over the next three years, the government plans to provide 30 lakh solar irrigation pumps to farmers across the state.
Additionally, Yadav assured that the government would purchase solar energy from farmers who participate in the program, enhancing their income potential while promoting sustainable farming practices.
Referring to the progress made under the current BJP government, Yadav highlighted the improvements in infrastructure, electricity, and road connectivity in rural areas, contrasting it with the lack of development during the Congress regime.
This new initiative is expected to significantly ease irrigation costs for farmers, improve agricultural productivity, and contribute to the state’s overall rural development.
