Nagada gets solar street lights
Around 4,000 Juang people of Nagada and other adjoining villages under Chingudipala panchayat in Jajpur district have a reason to cheer. It was only on Wednesday that these villages saw installation of solar street lights.
Nagada atop a hill in Sukinda chromite belt came into focus recently following reports that people are living there in abject poverty and severe malnutrition claimed 20 children in the last few months. A public outcry waked up the government machinery to rush senior officials to the village and prepare development packages for the people. The other villages to have solar lights are Guisala, Naliadaba, Ashokjhar.
Tata Steel from its CSR funds has provided the six solar street lights. “We have decided to provide solar lights in the first phase to 130 houses of Juang villages to be installed by the government-run Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA), said collector (Jajpur) S K Mallick.
