PM Modi at ICC: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian Chamber of Commerce’s annual plenary session. He reiterated his vision for self-reliant India while also showing other opportunities that lie in front of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi HIGHLIGHTS: In his address at the Indian Chamber of Commerce’s 95th Annual Plenary session, PM Modi said that India is currently challenging multiple challenges at a time as India has recently not only seen the outbreak of coronavirus but other natural calamities such as cyclones, earthquakes etc. Amid many challenges that the country is facing, PM Modi reiterated his dream for self reliant India and said that Indians must now work to turn the crises at hand into an opportunity.

“Every Indian has been dreaming of self-reliance in various sector such as aviation, defence etc,” he said and it is right time to make that dream a reality. Further, people, planet, and profit are interlinked unlike what is common belief. “These three can flourish and coexist together,” PM said. Illuminating on how people, profit and planet can go together, he said that West Bengal has an opportunity in single-use plastic ban. The state can now ramp up jute production and make the best of the situation, he said. He has also asked the industry to lead the way into becoming solar power hub; as a golden opportunity has emerged in the sector.

PM Modi recently addressed a CII event as well in which he said that government’s highest priority is to strengthen the economy and while coronavirus may have slowed down growth, India is poised to get it back. PM Modi also called on the industry to rise to the occasion and asked it to cut down heavily on exports and focus on Make In India.
