Naturgy is already immersed in the construction of about thirty wind farms and photovoltaic plants in Spain, which will see the addition of 683 megawatts (MW) of new power at the Spanish Renewable Park in the coming months and represent an investment of 528 million euros.

A dozen of these projects are expected to be commissioned before the end of the year, totaling 228 MW, the energy company reported.

Notably, the company is currently building 20 facilities and will begin work on another nine projects in the next few weeks.

A total of 683 MW of new renewable wind and photovoltaic power plants are located mainly in Extremadura (310.3 MW), Andalusia (150 MW) and Canary (71.9 MW). The remainder are distributed in Catalonia (49.4 MW), Galicia (46.2 MW), Murcia (34 MW) and Castile-La Mancha (21.7 MW).

The energy company reported that this new renewable generation power would generate about 1,600 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of more than 450,000 homes, and would prevent emissions of more than one million tons of CO2. Ambience..

The ten installations to be operational before the end of the year are: ‘Tabernas I’ and ‘Tabernas II’ photovoltaic plants in Andalusia; ‘Canredondo’ in Castilla—La Mancha; ‘Miraflores’, in Extremadura; and the ‘Els Barrens’ and ‘Punta Redona’ wind farms in Catalonia; and, in the Canary Islands, ‘Aguimes’ and ‘Camino de la Madera’ wind farms and ‘Puerto del Rosario’ and ‘Salinetas’ photovoltaic plants. These facilities join two others, ‘Torojos II’ and ‘Espina’, in Castilla y León, which have already become operational this year.

The energy company, headed by Francisco Rennes, already has more than 5.3 gigawatts (GW) of installed electricity in operation in Spain and internationally. During the first half of the year, the company increased its global installed capacity, primarily in Spain and Chile.

Its installed power has increased by 500 MW this year.

Naturaji expects to continue its growth in renewable energy by the end of the year with an increase in its installed capacity of 500 MW and in 2023 with an additional 1,500 MW installed capacity worldwide.

In Australia, the company has several projects in various stages of development that will allow it to increase its total installed capacity in the country to around 1,000 MW in the coming years.

Similarly, in the United States, Naturaji continues with its development plan and has already started construction of its first photovoltaic plant in this country, where it will develop 3.2 GW of solar and two GW of storage in the coming years.

In the area of offshore wind, Naturgy last April sealed an alliance with the Norwegian company Equinor to analyze and develop offshore projects in Spain and to leverage their complementary capabilities for the development of this technology in the country .
