NCR goes green, installs 7.7 mw solar power plants
New Delhi: North Central Railway has been working on installation of Solar Power Plants at its facilities like Stations, Divisional Offices and its Headquarter Office situated in Subedarganj in Allahabad.
Under the Guidance of GM/NCR M C Chauhan, Solar Power Plants with an installed capacity of 7.7MWp (Mega Watt peak production) have been installed in NCR in the current financial year, till February 28, 2018. Of these 6.5MWp have been installed under a new sanction of 10MW. Thus, by the end of the current financialyear, the Zonal Railway is all set to take this figure up to 11.12 MW.
“Our offices and rooftops of our facilities and installations have great potential for generation of Solar Power. Sun’s rays give off approximately 1000 watts of energy per square meter of the planet’s surface which can easily be used for power generation, and we are taking advantage of this potential” says GM/NCR.
