New large-scale solar data and shortlisted project
This data has been sourced from expressions of interest for ARENA’s large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) competitive round. It is expected to provide valuable information to stakeholders on trends in costs, generation yields and financing for this funding round.
The analysis found that:
the cost reductions ARENA anticipated for large-scale solar PV appear achievable
capital costs for large-scale solar have reduced significantly over the past two years despite a fall in the value of the Australian dollar
capacity factors for large-scale solar PV plants are increasing through the use of single axis tracking and moving to higher DC:AC ratios.
ARENA has committed $100 million funding to the round with the aim of bringing down the cost of large-scale solar in Australia through the deployment of between four and 10 new solar farms.
Juwi has informed ARENA that it will not be submitting a final funding bid for the Ebenezer Solar Project. The 52.8 MW Whitsunday Solar Farm was next in the order of merit and has been invited to join the shortlist of 22 projects to submit a full application, due by 15 June 2016.
