NewMotion seals Fiat Chrysler deal to provide EV charging services across 12 countries
NewMotion has secured a new partnership with Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s (FCA) to provide its business customers with electric vehicle (EV) charging services across 12 countries.
The business customers will receive access to NewMotion’s full charging ecosystem, including smart charging infrastructure, back office services and emergency customer care. They will also receive access to NewMotion’s 175,000 public chargepoints across Europe, with this presence being one of the reasons the charging firm was chosen.
Melanie Lane, CEO of NewMotion, said that the company’s ecosystem of smart charging solutions “means business customers who operate internationally or have multiple locations can be sure they can access the same solutions everywhere”.
Its charging infrastructure allows for distribution of the available power of the grid to reach all connected charge points, which is set to help FCA’s customers make the most efficient use of the available charging infrastructure as well as preventing unnecessary installation of more expensive rapid chargers or upgrades of the grid connection
NewMotion also offers payment functionalities and data insights, meaning employees who drive a company car but charge at home will be automatically reimbursed, and fleet managers of large businesses will gain access to the Business Hub allowing them to monitor, analyse and control all aspects of their chargers from one central platform.
The rollout will start with the UK, France and Germany and will be followed by the Netherlands, BeLux, Switzerland, Austria and the Nordics countries.
Roberto Di Stefano, head of e-mobility region EMEA at FCA, said the partnership – which will be implemented over the next three years – fits into FCA’s portfolio of services to “help simplify the life” of those buying an EV.
Last month, NewMotion signed another deal for the provision of its charging ecosystem, this time with Europcar Mobility Group.
This partnership is set to be rolled out gradually from January 2021 and is designed to help Europcar Mobility Group meet the goals of its CONNECT transformation plan, as it aims to become a major player in sustainable mobility.
