In Detail : NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) has issued a tender for an 813 MW wind power project in Bellary, Karnataka. The project aims to enhance the state’s renewable energy capacity and contribute to India’s broader clean energy transition. By leveraging wind energy potential, this initiative aligns with NTPC’s goal of expanding its green energy footprint.
The project involves installing 271 wind turbine generators, each with a minimum capacity of 3 MW. The selected bidder will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the entire project. This includes designing, manufacturing, supplying, erecting, testing, and commissioning the turbines along with the necessary control systems and grid integration.
As part of the agreement, the chosen contractor must also ensure guaranteed performance parameters for the wind project. This includes setting up supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, control panels, and software for monitoring efficiency. The bidder is required to secure all necessary regulatory approvals and clearances for power evacuation and grid connectivity.
Additionally, the winning bidder will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wind farm for ten years post-commissioning. This includes regular maintenance, supply of spare parts, and any necessary repairs or replacements. By ensuring long-term efficiency, the project aims to contribute to Karnataka’s renewable energy infrastructure sustainably.
To qualify for bidding, companies must be manufacturers of wind turbine generators listed in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Revised List of Models and Manufacturers. Financial eligibility criteria include a minimum annual turnover of ₹10.68 million per MW of quoted capacity over the last three financial years, along with a positive net worth.
The deadline for bid submissions is May 8, 2025, with the opening of techno-commercial bids scheduled for the same day. This project further strengthens NTPC REL’s commitment to renewable energy and supports India’s target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. With its scale and impact, the Bellary wind farm is expected to be a significant step toward sustainable energy development.
