In Short : NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) has awarded contracts totaling 66 MW of solar power projects to Kirloskar and Oriana. These contracts are part of India’s efforts to expand its renewable energy capacity. Kirloskar and Oriana will be responsible for developing the respective solar installations, contributing to the country’s push toward sustainable and green energy solutions.

In Detail : NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN) has awarded seven contracts with a total capacity of 66 MW to Kirloskar Solar Technologies and Oriana Power to develop solar projects in various locations in India. For Kirloskar, this includes 32.29 MW ground-mounted solar projects and 14.74 MW rooftop solar projects. The total contract price is Rs 2.08 billion. The projects will be set up in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Gujarat, and Assam.

NVVN also awarded contracts to Oriana Power with a total capacity of almost 20 MW. The company has been commissioned 10.61 MW of ground-mounted solar projects and 8.65 MW rooftop solar projects at a total value of Rs 835.69 million. The projects will be set up in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. This tender was floated in June this year.

According to the tender guidelines, the ground-mounted projects have to be installed within eight months of receiving the work order, while rooftop projects must be completed in six months. The selected developers have to operate and maintain the projects for three years. The modules to be used in the projects must be included in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

In November 2024, NVVN floated a tender for 7.2 MW grid-connected rooftop solar systems to be set up in 26 buildings under Assam Rifles in Nagaland, Manipur, and Assam.

In October 2024, NVVN announced IndiGrid, Kintech Synergy, and H.G. Infra Engineering as the winners of NVVN’s auction to develop 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) with Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support.
