Indian renewable energy platform O2 Power Pvt Ltd has launched commercial operations at a 250-MW solar park in the state of Rajasthan.
The photovoltaic (PV) farm will supply electricity to the Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), the Gurgaon, Haryana-based company said in a Twitter post on Friday.
Located in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, the plant was commissioned in two phases and is the first solar park owned by O2 Power that goes online. The company has plans for two other PV projects in the state totalling 780 MW, its website shows.
O2 Power was set up in 2020 as a joint venture of EQT Infrastructure IV, a fund launched by Sweden-based private equity firm EQT AB, and Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund Temasek Holdings Pvt Ltd. When they established the platform, the partners pledged to invest some USD 500 million (EUR 466.8m) in the new renewable energy player, targeting more than 4 GW of installed renewable power generating capacity.
