MUNJAL RANGWALA (1981 – 2021) – CEO – HARSHA ABAKUS SOLAR PVT LTD
On 20th March, ’21, Munjal Rangwala, CEO – Harsha Abakus Solar Pvt. Ltd., avid biker, loving family man and above all, a human par excellence passed away at the age of 39.
Munjal was born and brought up in Ahmedabad, wherein he completed his schooling and went on to graduate from Nirma Institute of Technology in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering. His friends fondly remember an ever-smiling, gentle soul who was quick to laugh and even quicker to cheer his department’s cricket team. There were few college events and even fewer gathering of friends that were not witness to Munjal’s passionate energy or boundless hard work.
After graduation, Munjal went on to complete his Masters from University of Texas A&M in Industrial Engineering and spent a little over 5 years with Accenture before heading home to his family venture. Having joined Harsha Engineers as a Director, Munjal took over the reins of Harsha Abakus Solar (the Group’s renewable division) as a CEO and championed its cause with the same indefatigable energy that’d been his hallmark. India’s solar plans were taking off and Munjal oversaw the growth of his company from a local entity to a national player of repute, boasting of several world class installations that carved a niche within the industry. It was Munjal who defined & drove Harsha’s vision of enlightening society with sustainable and renewable resources. To empower the masses with eco-friendly solutions was his mantra. His passing has sparked an outpouring of grief in the Solar Industry.
However, it would be a disservice to limit Munjal to his professional accomplishments. It was really as a person that he shone far and wide. The Gita says, ‘Cultivating Humility is the beginning of Knowledge’ and in that regard, Munjal was really knowledgeable. He carried a simple, affable personality with grace and elegance, a trait that is increasingly rare in these times. Across the spectrum of society, a vivid range of people have near similar impression of being struck by his down-to-earth nature. He could connect with a multitude of personalities, irrespective of their background with astounding ease. Perhaps, it is no surprise that his demise has shocked the business world as deeply as it has, his family, for he brought a very rare quality of being irreplaceable at a profoundly human level.
At the time of his demise, an unfortunate accident, Munjal was biking along the Chandigarh-Manali road. One can only hope that his soul is still travelling, exploring the wonders of the beautiful place, it has doubtlessly passed on to. Knowing Munjal, he would be lighting even that place up with his pleasant smile and trademark energy.
Rest in peace Munjal.
