Odisha’s new policy to boost use of renewable energy – EQ Mag

The Odisha Renewable Energy Policy, 2022 was introduced by the government to help decarbonise the energy sector by promoting renewable energy. The policy aims to encourage industries to increase renewable energy production because they are required to do so under the Centre’s renewable purchase obligation (RPO) trajectory by 2030.
By 2030, industries and power distribution companies (discoms) must achieve 43 per cent RPO trajectory by 2030. By 2030, industries and power distribution companies (discoms) must achieve 43 per cent RPO.
To that end, the policy encourages massive incentives for industrial houses. During the policy period (2022-2030), industries will be offered incentives such as a 50 paisa per unit exemption on electricity consumption for 20 years.
