On the roof of CMBT metro station in Chennai, solar power plant installed now
People going to CMBT metro station would be surprised to see a solar power plant on the roof top now. On Monday, this 100 KWp solar power plant was installed at the roof top of this metro station in Chennai and this is spoken in high esteem now.
It must be noted that till now CMRL has installed 5.2 MW of solar power plants in Koyambedu depot and in other metro stations. By the end of 2019, CMRL has got plans to install 8 MW and it would be superb. The important point is 116,80,000 units of solar energy would be produced and it would reduce carbon emissions significantly.
Executed under Zero Capital Investment by CMRL, these solar plants are based on the model under the SECI or Solar Energy Corporation of India Scheme on monthly tariff basis. This was as per the release from CMRL.
CMRL grabbed many eyeballs in January 2019 when it installed a 380 KWP solar power plant on the roofs of 2 and 4 wheeler parking sheds present at 3 metro stations like Anna Nagar east, Pachaiyappa’s College and Nehru Park. In the month of November in 2018, CMRL installed 1120 KWP solar rooftop at 2 elevated metro stations in Chennai like Alandur and St. Thomas Mount and in the ground areas of Koyambedu station. In the ancillary buildings belonging to 4 underground metro stations like Thirumangalam, Anna Nagar Tower, Anna Nagar East and Shenoy Nagar, CMRL had previously installed 103 KWp solar systems is known.
