Oriental Brewery to Make Beer With Solar Power

SEOUL : Oriental Brewery (OB) Co., South Korea’s largest brewer, will be producing beer with eco-friendly solar energy next year by installing solar power generation facilities at company plants across the country.
The company held a ceremony at its Icheon brewery in Gyeonggi Province to celebrate the start of the ‘RE100’ joint project to fully replace electricity with renewable energy.
OB plans to install solar panels at three production plants, with each capable of generating 12 gigawatt-hour (GWh) of electricity every year.
“Using solar energy will allow us to reduce 5,621 tons of carbon emissions each year,” the company said. “Over a period of 30 years, these facilities will be able to reduce 160,000 tons of carbon emissions.”
The company plans to fully replace electricity with renewable energy by 2025.
