Over 1,600 houses in HP do not have power connection: CM
The CM informed that 12,891 left out houses were provided electricity connections under the scheme since its launch on October 10, two years ago
Shimla: More than 1600 houses in Himachal Pradesh do not have power even after 72 years of country’s independence, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur informed the state Assembly. Replying to a question by Nadaun MLA Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu during the ongoing monsoon session on Tuesday, the CM said as many as 1660 houses in the state do not have electricity.
Former state Congress president, Sukhu also asked about the number of houses that got electricity connections under the Centre sponsored Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar (Saubhagya) Yojna.
The CM informed that 12,891 left out houses were provided electricity connections under the scheme since its launch on October 10, two years ago.
At 2,522, the maximum power connections were provided in Una district, followed by Hamirpur (1873), Kangra (1761), Mandi (1449), Shimla (1319) and Solan (1042).
Tribal Lahaul and Spiti district got the lowest number of electricity connections at 21, he said.
