PFS launched Skill Development Programme on Solar Power in Jodhpur, Rajasthan as CSR initiative
PTC India Financial Services Limited (PFS), as part of its CSR Initiatives launched a four week “Skill Development Programme on Solar Energy” for rural youth on 12th, March 2018. The programme is being conducted in partnership with National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Faridabad and near Bhadla, Jodhpur District Rajasthan. Solar Park in Bhadla is one of the largest in the country. The CSR project aims at skilling the youth in installation, operation and maintenance of solar power plants. The EPC Contractors and Developers setting plants in the solar park are also being taken on board by PFS. Trainees are expected to get employment in Bhadla or in nearby places. Some of the trainees have shown their inclination in taking up entrepreneurship activities.
Dr. Ashok Haldia, MD & CEO, PFS stated that the programme is unique, and would contribute in addressing the challenges being faced by solar power industry in availability of skilled and semi-skilled manpower. The programme would be replicated in different parts of the country having solar power development prospects. He added that presently, the majority of the workers, technician employed with the EPC contractor and the solar power developers at Bhadla are recruited from outside. The programme by PFS intends to impart skill to the local youth in this area and make them employable.
