In Detail : New Delhi – The Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar visited NHPC’s 45 MW Nimoo Bazgo Power Station in Leh District, Union Territory of Ladakh.
The Union Minister, accompanied by NHPC Limited’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) RK Chaudhary, visited various sites of the power station. Chaudhary briefed the Minister on the station’s operations, which include generating hydroelectric power and supporting local welfare initiatives under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Commending NHPC’s team for their dedication in managing operations under challenging conditions, the Minister emphasized the Government’s focus on renewable energy and environmental sustainability. He urged NHPC to continue its efforts in ensuring a stable power supply while exploring further opportunities in green energy to strengthen Ladakh’s energy infrastructure.
The Nimoo Bazgo Power Station, developed by NHPC on the Indus River, is a cornerstone of Ladakh’s energy ecosystem, providing clean and reliable energy to the region.
During the visit, senior NHPC officials, including Ram Swaroop, Executive Director, NHPC Regional Office Jammu; Suprakash Adhikari, Executive Director, O&M; and Jitendra Kumar, Head of Power Station for Nimoo Bazgo and Chutak Power Stations, along with other NHPC employees were also present.
