Power Purchase agreement finalized to install Roof-Top Solar Power Plant at GNDU
AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University has taken a step towards the generation of Green Energy free from any pollution. A grid connected Roof-Top Solar Photovoltaic and Solar Power Plant of 1.6 Mega Watts Capacity will be installed at Guru Nanak Dev University main campus, Amritsar. A power purchase agreement between Azure Power Rooftop One Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjab has been finalized and signed today in the Vice Chancellor’s Office.
Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Registrar on behalf of the University and Vinit Saini, Representative signed this agreement on behalf of the Azure Power Rooftop One Pvt. Ltd. in the presence of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu and other officials.
This Project has been allocated by Solar Energy Power Corporation of India (a Government of India Enterprise). Under this project Azure Power Rooftop One Pvt Ltd, New Delhi will install all the equipment for solar power generation free of cost and will carry out the operation and maintenance for the period of 25 years. University will purchase the generated solar energy power at fixed tariff of INR 3.32 per unit for the period of 25 years.
In addition to the financial saving of around 60 to 70 lakh INR annually, the university will have a great contribution towards lowering of pollution level in the region by reducing its carbon footprints due to generation and using green energy.
