Power tariff in Himachal Pradesh to stay unchanged
Shimla: With elections coming, power tariff in Himachal Pradesh would remain unchanged as State Electricity Regulatory Commission (HPERC) has decided not to change the tariff applicable for 2016-17 on the ground that Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) shall be able to recover the total estimated revenue requirement the existing tariff.
HPSEBL had projected additional revenue requirement of Rs 1,517.07 crore for 2017-18 over and above requirement Rs 5,196.15 crore projected in multi-year tariff order issued by HPERC on June 12, 2014.
HPERC, secretary, Chaman Dilta in a statement issued on Monday said that the commission after hearing the stakeholders determined the aggregate requirement for the 2017-18 as Rs 5,015.75 crore and as such has not accepted the proposal of additional requirement of Rs 1,517.07 crore. He said that aggregate revenue requirement of HPSEBL is Rs 5,015.75 crore, total estimated receipts on existing tariff is Rs 5,018.91 crore while revenue surplus considered for tariff revision is Rs 3.17 crore.
While giving the reason for tariff stability, he said that various factors contributed for tariff stability this year.
