JOB DESCRIPTION
* Responsibilities:
Position Applied Materials as a Leader and build reputation in India
•Initiates and maintains ongoing relationships with business press editors and reporters in India, and supports major global corporate and product initiatives to gain feature coverage of the Company in the general and business print, broadcast and electronic press.
•Serves as media relations center for all corporate-related media inquiries, issues and crisis.
•Develops individualized press and speakers’ programs, and support, for specified key executives. Oversees Company’s briefing program and materials for reporters and dignitaries; drives creation of press educational materials for the media that portray Applied Materials as a customer-focused, technology-leadership growth company.
•Provides interview coaching and assistance, presentation and talking points preparation, as well as onsite advance assistance.
•Drives local crisis management communications, while assisting in the development of global crisis communications response.
•Manages media relations activities for major events, including: Semiconductor industry events, Solar events and company participation in other technical and business conferences.
•Participate and play and active role to support Regional office driven initiative Drive employee engagement and lead internal communication programs
•Strategically plans and executes internal communications programs and ensures collaboration with other divisions and business segments, and senior management to assure consistency and appropriate messaging.
•Manages / drives corporate employee communication tools – executive messaging, online communications, e-mails, printed publications, videos, webcasts, quarterly State of the Business, Intranet, senior executive employee/ communication meetings. Lead community and corporate philanthropy efforts in India
• Support relevant Community programs / projects to meet overall communications objectives. Responsible and accountable for management of Applied Materials community funding to the NGOs or Non-profit / Charitable organizations in India.
•Spearhead employee voluntary council and employee participation in community work
•Works with other Communications & Public Affairs staff to identify synergies across geographies for the group. Representative for Group and Financial responsibility
•Advocates, both directly and in oversight capacity, Company positions/ interests to policymakers, trade associations and other outside organizations. Networks and outreaches to build Company “brand awareness” among policymakers and staff.
•Manages the coordination of activities with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and employees.
•Represents Employee/ Executive Communications in various organizations, project groups, committees.
•Supports Community programs / projects integrating with employee engagement to meet communications objectives.
•Works as part of Regional program management office in Applied Materials India to oversee programs to increase brand awareness and build company reputation Skills:
•Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
•Background in writing for publications, intranet
•Proven project management skills, as well facilitation and negotiation
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
•Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and deftness in juggling multiple tasks/ issues
•Ability to deal with changes and uncertainties and turn around quickly to deal with the situation. Strong problem solving skills
•Strong stakeholder management experience and proven track records.
•Knowledge of high-tech industry (preferably in Semiconductor, Semiconductor equipment, Solar, Renewable energy) and related public policy implications
•Creative and think out of the box
Job Specific Knowledge:
•Must have strong knowledge of issues and media impacting the semiconductor equipment / Solar industry.
•Must have strong knowledge of the political process and the interaction of business and public policy, with a particular emphasis on issues relevant to the semiconductor / Semiconductor equipment / Solar industry
•Experience in marketing and communications will be advantageous

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE
* Education:
•BA/ BS level degree in Journalism / Communications / Marketing or equivalent, with emphasis on strong communications skills (both written and verbal) and solid understanding of business and public policy.
•12 years direct experience in a Communications role in Business- to- Business environment, High- Tech industry, public relations agency, IR firm or other corporate public relations department managing teams conducting communications programs; including 5 years of people management experience
•Strong experience and demonstrated results in creating programs related to corporate issues and reputation management, as well as financial media
•Direct experience promoting corporations in the semiconductor or semiconductor equipment industry, Solar industry or Display industry.
•Comfortable dealing with elected officials and senior government and business officials
Strong track record and demonstrated results in public policy/ government relations
•Master’s degree plus 10 years of directly related experience representing the semiconductor / semiconductor equipment / Solar / Display industries or other high- tech company/ trade association.
