Colombian utility Empresas Publicas de Medellin (EPM) has started a tendering process to select an engineering consultancy that will oversee works on its 83-MW Tepuy solar farm project in the department of Caldas, centre-west Colombia.

The competition is open to domestic and international companies, and the deadline to submit the offers expires on May 2, EPM said. The contracted bidder will supervise the project during design, construction, assembly and commissioning phases.

This will be the first of the contracts to be awarded for the Tepuy project, the utility said.

The solar farm will be located in the municipality of La Dorada. The plan is to install over 200,000 bifacial solar panels of 540 Wp to 550 Wp, on an area of around 220 hectares (543.6 acres).

The Tepuy development was one of 11 solar projects to secure a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in Colombia’s 2021 renewables auction last October.
