Pune smart city mission project gets three awards, emphasis on solar, water systems
The Pune city has won three awards for Smart City project in a competition organised by Business-World Awards 2016, a statement issued by Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCSCL) said.
As per the statement issued by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the first award for ‘Innovative Smart Solution – Knowledge and Intellectual Category’ was awarded to Pune Lighthouse Project, while the second award for ‘Innovative Smart Solution – Infrastructure’ was given to Pune Smart City 24×7 water supply initiative. The Pune Care App got the third award of ‘Innovative Smart Solution – Social’
PMC has launched 14 projects under the Smart Cities Mission. The PMC has laid emphasis on transport, water, road and solar systems. Projects include slum rehabilitation and steps to improve public transport. Status of those works will have to be given before finalising the funds allocation.
The Union government has released its initial share of Rs 194 crore. The PMC and the state government are now expected to raise funds for actual implementation. The PMC wants to give thrust to involving private investors.
“Pune reinforced its supremacy at executing Smart City in India, winning 3 awards, the highest by any Smart City in India,” stated the release.
A special purpose vehicle formed for smart cities mission is running these projects. This SPV was registered in March. Named PSCDCL, it has seven stakeholders. The company has 15 directors.
