
RECPDCL hands over transmission projects to PGCIL – EQ
In Short : RECPDCL has handed over two transmission project SPVs, Bidar Transco Limited and Khavda V-B1B2 Power Transmission Limited, to PGCIL. Awarded through a competitive bidding process, these projects will strengthen power transmission in Karnataka and Gujarat. Developed on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer basis, they aim to support renewable energy integration and grid expansion.
In Detail : JAMMU – REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a fully owned subsidiary of REC Limited, today handed over two project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) under ISTS Transmission Projects to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL).
The projects were transferred at a ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the country’s power transmission sector.
The official handover was conducted by T S C Bosh, CEO of RECPDCL to Pankaj Pandey, Executive Director of PGCIL, in the presence of senior officials from RECPDCL, PGCIL and the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited.
The SPVs, Bidar Transco Limited and Khavda V-B1B2 Power Transmission Limited, were developed under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route, with RECPDCL acting as the Bid Process Coordinator.
Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has emerged as the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) for both projects and will undertake their development on a Build, Own, Operate & Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The Bidar project will augment transformation capacity at the Bidar Pooling Station in Karnataka, while the Khavda project will focus on increasing capacity at KPS1 & KPS2 substations in Gujarat.
These developments are intended to facilitate the efficient evacuation of power from renewable energy generation sources in these regions.
