Renewable Energy commemorates former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birthday

Kolkata: The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has declared August 20, the birthday of Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, as “National Renewable Energy Day”.
To celebrate this memorable day throughout the state, the MNRE had introduced a programme namely “Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas”(RGAUD), which is celebrated every year since 2004.
The objective of this programme is to generate mass awareness and popularisation of need, benefits and uses of renewable energy devices and systems in all sphere of life.
