In Short : Renewable energy companies are planning to establish green hydrogen plants overseas. These international ventures aim to tap into global markets, optimize production costs, and advance the adoption of green hydrogen as a sustainable energy source.

In Detail : Indian renewable energy companies are ramping up their green hydrogen initiatives both locally and globally. The effort aligns with the worldwide movement towards cleaner fuel options and India’s goal to cut down carbon emissions.

Hero Future Energies (HFE) is considering deploying green hydrogen plants in the UK and Europe. They have partnered with Ohmium International to develop facilities capable of producing 1,000 MW of green hydrogen.

Adani New Industries (ANIL) is looking forward to opportunities in Europe, Japan, and South Korea. The aim is to create projects that will produce an equivalent of 1 million metric tons per annum (MMTPA) of green hydrogen and 5.6 MMTPA of green ammonia by 2030.

Renew has entered into a preliminary agreement with Egypt to establish a green hydrogen plant in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and is also exploring domestic projects in Odisha, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh. The Avaada Group is planning to develop a capacity of around 4 MMTPA of various green fuels and is currently in talks with global buyers.

The growth of the sector is heavily influenced by supportive government policies, reflecting India’s dedication to reducing its dependence on fossil fuels. As reported by knnindia.co.in, the expansion into green hydrogen production and international markets marks a major milestone for India’s renewable energy sector, potentially positioning the country as a significant player in the global transition to green energy.
