Rural innovator develops solar mobile charger in Warangal Rural

Warangal Rural: With a view to solve the mobile charging predicaments of phone users, a solar-powered mobile charger was set up on the premises of the Warangal Rural Collector’s office in Hanamkonda.
In order to use the solar power, a renewable source of energy, a rural innovator named Mupparapu Raju of Gopalpur village in Duggondi mandal in Warangal Rural district, developed this solar-based mobile charger that can charge as many as eight mobile phones at a time.
As Raju approached the Warangal Rural Collector M Haritha with a request to allow him to set up the solar charger at the collectorate, the Collector had readily agreed to the proposal as it would be useful for people.
After inaugurating the solar charger on Thursday, M Haritha said that the charger would be useful to people visiting the collectorate as well as the employees working in the office.
Showering praise on Raju for this innovative idea, the Collector stressed on the need for use of renewable energy as it would not harm the environment.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Raju, a B.Sc (BZC) graduate, who has also developed a solar-powered sprayer and sensor streetlights in the past, said that he had developed the solar charger at a cost of Rs 10,000.
“This solar-powered charger has been made of solar panels, charging circuit, USB connectors, a battery, a pole, a box and a tray to put the mobile phones,” he said, adding that the solar charger will also work during the night.
“Though there are solar portable powerbanks (chargers) available in the market, nowhere in the country is the solar fixed charger for mobile phones except the one developed by me,” he added.
