Science Society organizes workshop on solar energy
A workshop on Solar Energy- “A Key to Future”, sponsored by Chandigarh Renewable Energy Science and Promotion Society, Chandigarh Administration (CREST) was organized by Science Society here at Post Graduate Government College for Girls (PGGCG-11) on Wednesday.
The workshop is aimed to create awareness about solar energy and its uses in different sectors. During the occasion, inter-college competitions like slogan writing and poster making were held. The registration for the various competitions started at 9.00am. The chief guest, Mr. Santosh Kumar, IFS, chief executive officer, CREST inaugurated the function along with the other distinguished guests. In his inaugural address, he emphasized on using solar energy in the present scenario. He also stressed that a part of everyone’s daily energy requirement should be from solar energy, so as carbon footprints are minimized.
A power point presentation was also given by CREST showcasing various projects taken by them in developing Chandigarh. Help desk highlighting SolarTech emergency light, SolarTech portable battery charger/mobile charger, SolarTech power supply UPS and invertor, SolarTech door frame metal detector, SolarTech IR sensor, SolarTech box type cookers and dish type cookers were displayed by the department of CREST for popularizing solar energy.
