SECI plans to issue first C&I tender in next financial year – EQ Mag

New Delhi : The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a central public sector undertaking (CPSU) under the ministry of new and renewable energy, plans to issue its first tender for commercial and industrial (C&I) procurers in early next financial year.
“We have received substantial interest from C&I entities for procurement of renewable energy, through different models, and we plan to issue our first tender for C&I procurers in early next financial year,” Sharma told ETEnergyWord in an exclusive interview.
She added that the C&I segment has emerged as a significant customer for customised RE products over the recent years, and SECI has been in consultation customised RE products over the recent years, and SECI has been in consultation ..
In 2020, J N Swain, SECI’s previous managing director, told ETEnergyWorld that the CPSU plans to enter into commercial business and set up 5,000 MW of that the CPSU plans to enter into commercial business and set up 5,000 MW solar-wind-storage hybrid capacity over 10 years. On being asked about it, Sharma said that they are making progress on that.
“We are making good progress on this front. The recent auctions for Energy Storage Systems by SECI and other procuring agencies have resulted in encouraging numbers, , which bode well for the hybrid projects being planned out by SECI,” she said.
Swain in that interview had said that they have an authorised share capital of Rs 2,000 crore and Rs 354 crore paid -up share capital, which could be increased through infusion of equity by the government.
