Sharp completes 50-MW PV plant in Vietnam
December 14 : Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation (SESJ), part of Sharp Corp (TYO:6753), said today it has completed a roughly 50-MW direct current (DC) solar power project in Vietnam.
The photovoltaic (PV) facility was built by Sharp and partners including Vietnam-based and construction company NSN Construction and Engineering JSC, co-owning the project, and Viet Nam Viet Renewable Energy JSC, which will operate the park.
Located in Binh Dinh province, the solar park is set to generate some 82,506 MWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the annual demand of 43,700 average Vietnamese homes. This plant can offset the equivalent of 27,474 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in a year, Sharp said.
With the completion of this PV farm, SESJ now has a combined capacity of approximately 340 MW DC in the Southeast Asian country. Vietnam has a solar capacity goal of 12,000 MW by 2030.
