Shizen Energy is going to sign MOU on One of the Largest Floating Solar Facilities in South East Asia – EQ Mag Pro
Shizen Energy Inc. (Shizen Energy) has announced that Shizen Energy and the Nusa Baiduri Consortium in Malaysia has agreed to implement a feasibility study through its fully owned subsidiary Shizen Malaysia Sdn Bhd.(Shizen Malaysia) for the development of a floating solar facility with a capacity of 150 MW which will be signed through an MOU on April 25th at the Asia Green Growth Partnership Ministerial Meeting (AGGPM) Public-Private Forum.
This project is positioned as one of South East Asia’s largest floating facilities and in aligning with the Asia Energy Transition Initiative (AETI) promoted by the Japanese government.
The Nusa Baiduri Consortium consists of Shizen Malaysia, the investor/developer, and Nusa Baiduri Sdn. Bhd the project owner/facilitator. The floating solar facility will be constructed at the Durian Tunggal Dam in Melaka, and the generated electricity will be provided to Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd (SAMB). A feasibility study of floating solar equipment will be conducted from Mar 15th, 2022, for a maximum duration of 12 months, and following a favorable result, the floating solar facility of 150 MW will be constructed in a sequence of Phase 1 and later Phase 2.
“Should the feasibility study yield positive results, the completion of the 150MW floating solar project would mean Malaysia having one of the first and largest floating solar plant in South East Asia. This is an initiative to support the state government towards Green Technology, and Zero Carbon by 2030 , “ said SAMB CEO Abdu Rashid Abdul Rahman during an interview with Melaka TV.

METI will host the AGGPM Public-Private Forum in online format on April 25 (Mon.), 2022. This Forum will be held to disseminate the importance of industry-government-academia efforts, innovation promotion, and international cooperation for accelerating various and pragmatic energy transitions in Asia, as confirmed at the First AGGPM held on October 4, 2021.
