Indian off-grid solar energy enterprise Mera Gao Power has raised $2.5 million in equity funding from the Insitor Impact Fund, the ENGIE Rassembleurs d’Energies Initiative and the Electrification Financing Initiative. The investment was made with the support of Singapore-based Impact Investment Exchange (IIX), an impact enterprise that bridges the gap between finance and development. The Uttar Pradesh-based company plans to use this latest funding to expand to over 5,000 additional rural off-grid villages across the state, providing over 50,000 households with access to reliable energy for the first time.
