Solar energy against poverty. – KACO new energy supports the Turkish TIDER foundation with donations from the sale of inverters.
KACO new energy supplies inverters to Eko Renewable Energy Inc. for an 8-megawatt solar park in Aydin. The German manufacturer is to donate part of the profits to the TIDER foundation, which aims to cover the basic needs of people living in poverty. German inverter manufacturer KACO new energy and the Turkish EPC Eko Renewable Energy Inc. (EkoRE) have signed a cooperation agreement. Their long-term collaboration is to begin with an 8-megawatt solar park in Aydin, in south-west Turkey, for which KACO new energy is to supply the inverters.
In the course of negotiations with EkoRE’s Chief Executive Officer, Serhan Süzer, KACO new energy Country Manager in Turkey, Nedret Ünlü, learned of TIDER (Temel İhtiyaç Derneği). The foundation is supported by EkoRE and aims to help people living under the poverty line and assist them in finding jobs. KACO new energy decided to also support TIDER: the foundation will receive a donation for each inverter supplied by KACO new energy as part of the contract for the solar park in Aydin. Furthermore, KACO new energy plans to continue to actively sponsor TIDER in the future.

The aim of the organisation is to support people living under the poverty line and help them find jobs, as part of a campaign to fight poverty in Turkey. The first market helping people in need in this way in Turkey and serving as a point of contact was opened in Istanbul-Maltepe in the year 2015. To date, this “support market” has provided almost 5,000 families with food, cleaning products and clothing. In the course of the project, the foundation has also found new jobs for more than 50 people. TIDER plans to open the second market of this kind in Bağcılar-Esenler in 2017.
