Solar lamps distributed
Senapati Forest Division in association with EcoSOLUTIONS, Mumbai, distributed solar lamps to about 47 BPL families of 3 villages under Saranamai. The distribution function was presided by Rajesh AM, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Senapti; Alexander Maikho, ADC Member, and Chairpersons and Village Council members of all three villages, our correspondent reports.
DFO Rajesh AM said such initiatives will help light up families and villages, reduce deforestation and contribute to environment conservation by reducing carbon emissions. The distribution function was aimed at promoting the use of renewable energy resources and reducing the dependence of communities on forests for fuel (wood). Yathindra Agrawal, Trustee of EcoSOLUTIONS, Mumbai, also spoke on the occasion. The Village Authorities thanked the Forest Department, Government, of Manipur EcoSOLUTIONS, Mumbai and Amarjit Singh, DFO, Thoubal Forest Division, for the initiative and further requested them to organise more of such programmes that promotes conservation of forests and environment in general.
