Solar Modules from Hanwha Q CELLS Make the Power of the Italian Sun the Secret Ingredient of Birra Castello
The brewery Birra Castello S.p.A. located in the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia relies on modules from Hanwha Q CELLS to supply their beer production with clean solar energy. Omnia Energy 3 srl has planned and constructed a 500 kWp solar system on the brewery´s roof in San Giorgio di Nogaro (UD). The installation comprises 1866 Q.PRO-G4 solar modules of the Q CELLS brand which are expected to produce around 580.000 kWh per year. The clean energy from the rooftop will be used entirely to power the beer production and thus will prevent around 445 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Through switching large parts of their energy consumption to self-produced and self-consumed solar energy, Birra Castello S.p.A. responds to the challenge of environmental sustainability and increases the company’s independence from rising electricity prices from the grid.
The solar system is estimated to have a payback period of approximately five years. With performance guarantees of around 25 years and lifetimes even beyond that, the installation not only improves the carbon footprint of the company but also presents an enormous saving potential. One key to achieving such attractive payback periods is to use high performance solar modules which reliably offer strong power output in real life conditions over a long period of time. Against this background, the modules´ performance in difficult conditions such as low light during dusk or dawn and in hot climates – like in Italy – is key to the overall yield achieved by a solar system.
Claudio Paiaro at Birra Castello said: “The self-consumption of solar energy through our new rooftop installation helps us, both ecologically and economically. We´d like to thank our partners Omnia Energy 3 slr and Hanwha Q CELLS for providing quality work and high quality solar modules.” Omnia Energy 3´s owner, Mr. Stephane Moretti, commented: “We are very pleased to realize this win-win installation for Birra Castello. The solar system will have an early return on the investment and safe the company a lot of money in the long run. One key to actually achieving this is to install high performance and high quality solar modules. That´s why we chose Hanwha Q CELLS.”
Alberto Nadai, Key Account Manager for northern Italy at Hanwha Q CELLS, said: “It is our pleasure to partner with Birra Castello and Omnia Energy 3 in increasing the independence of yet another company from rising electricity prices. Self-consumption of solar energy simply makes a lot of sense for companies in industry and commerce and Hanwha Q CELLS has the modules to use solar energy most efficiently and reach maximum returns on investment for the customer.”
