For promoting sustainable energy and save expenditure on electricity, the district administration will soon install solar plant with the capacity of 20 KW at the main complex of mini secretariat. Deputy commissioner Ravi Bhagat said the district will be the first in the state to install a solar plant at administrative block of mini secretariat. “After installing the plant at mini secretariat, we will move to other government buildings. The plant is being established with the help of Punjab Energy Development Authority (PEDA). At present, we are working on the formalities. It is expected that the project will be finalized till Friday.” Residents will also be encouraged to adopt solar power as it is sustainable energy and saves expenditure on electricity, he added. Balpreet Singh, a resident of Nehru Nagar, said, “It is good that sustainable energy is being promoted by government offices. The government should spread awareness among residents about its or PEDA schemes so that residents could move towards using sustainable energy.”
