In Short : Solex has announced plans to establish a new solar cell manufacturing facility. This initiative aims to boost domestic production of solar cells, enhancing the supply chain for renewable energy in the region. The new facility is expected to create jobs, drive technological innovation, and contribute to sustainability goals by supporting the growing demand for solar energy solutions.

In Detail : Solex Energy announced on Monday that it is exploring the development of a new solar cell manufacturing facility with an initial capacity of 2 gigawatts (GW) as part of its Vision 2030 strategy. The company plans to invest over ₹8,000 crore to support this initiative.

As part of its growth strategy, Solex aims to scale its cell manufacturing capacity to 5 GW and increase its module manufacturing capacity from 1.5 GW to 15 GW. Additionally, the company plans to expand its workforce to over 25,000 employees to accommodate this growth.

Chetan Shah, Chairman and Managing Director of Solex Energy, stated, “Vision 2030 represents a key milestone in our journey to becoming a fully integrated solar company. With the introduction of N-Type TOPCon technology featuring rectangular cells, Solex Energy is raising the bar for efficiency and reliability.”

A significant component of the Vision 2030 strategy is the launch of the Tapi-R series, named after the Tapi River, which symbolizes vitality in the region where Solex is headquartered in Gujarat. Shah emphasized that with this launch, Solex is proud to be the first Indian manufacturer to offer modules utilizing such advanced technology. The company also recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Indian PV module manufacturer to secure the prestigious MCS 005 certification under the BSI Kitemark, accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). This certification underscores Solex’s commitment to quality, trust, and excellence.

Headquartered in Surat, Solex operates a factory in Tadkeshwar, Gujarat, with a production capacity of 700 MW and an additional 800 MW currently under installation.
