Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust selects Orb Energy to install 2.27MW rooftop solar PV system under Sri Sathya Sai Mitra Phase 2
BANGALORE, INDIA: Orb Energy (“Orb”) today announced that it has been selected for the installation of a cumulative 2.27 megawatt (MW) rooftop solar PV system for Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust under Sri Sathya Sai Mitra Phase II.
Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and its Green Energy initiatives:
The Trust was established by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, as a public charitable trust in 1972. The core activity of the Trust includes providing free education, free medical care and relief to the public through its schools, university and hospitals.
In accordance with Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s vision of the planet positive lifestyle and His call to live in harmony with Nature and its elements, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust have already on their own, installed 2.2MW of solar plants at their hospitals, research center, and archives in 2018 and are enjoying the benefits of green energy. This corresponds to reduction of 3500 tons of carbon footprint per year. With the present 2.27MW plants located in their campuses at Prasanthi Nilayam, Brindavan, Rajamahendravaram and Muddenahalli, they estimate production of an average of approximately 9,300 units of clean solar electricity per day. With the commissioning of the Phase II of Sri Sathya Sai Mitra, the cumulative reduction in carbon footprint would be around 7000 tons per annum, said the Chief Public Relation Officer of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust.
“Orb Energy is extremely honoured that Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust has selected us to design, supply, and install a 2.27 megawatt rooftop solar system for their facilities across 5 locations in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. We are proud to associate with Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust which undertakes a number of welfare activities such as providing free education at school and university levels, delivering quality medical care at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, completely free of charge, as well supply of pure drinking water in various regions in the state of Andhra Pradesh and the Metro city of Chennai.” said Damian Miller, Orb’s Chief Executive Officer.
Orb’s rooftop solar system will generate over 33 lakh units per annum of clean electricity for the Trust as part of its green energy initiatives.
About Orb Energy
Orb is a vertically integrated provider of rooftop solar solutions that manufactures its own range of solar panels in Bangalore, India and provides a unique in-house finance for commercial, industrial and institutional customers to own their own rooftop solar system.
Orb’s rooftop solar systems provide commercial, industrial and institutional customers a three- to four-year payback without any subsidy – an unheard-of return on investment on an unsubsidized solar power system. Because many businesses and institutions in India can only afford rooftop solar with finance, Orb offers a collateral-free solar loan that matches the payback period – after which all their power from solar is effectively free.
Orb Energy was founded in 2006, and since inception has sold more than 160,000 solar systems in India, with cumulative installations of more than 40MW of rooftop solar systems. Orb is head-quartered in Bangalore, where it has two factories: one producing solar photovoltaic panels and one producing solar water heating systems. Orb employs approximately 300 people in India.
