AMMAN: Social Security Investment Fund (SSIF) CEO Kholoud Saqqaf on Monday inaugurated the second solar energy station as part of a sustainable energy project to cover the electricity needs of the buildings of the Social Security Corporation, the SSIF and the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Amman.

Saqqaf said that inaugurating the station in Zarqa, in conjunction with the Kingdom’s celebrations of His Majesty King Abdullah’s birthday, reflects SSIF’s keenness on realising achievements according to His Majesty’s vision to shift to green economy, according to an SSIF statement.

The CEO noted that the five-megawatt station will reduce annual costs by JD1.7 million, noting that the scheme, while under construction, provided 150 jobs for Jordanian engineers and workers.
