State-controlled hydro power producer in Romania, Hidroelectrica is seeking interested consultants to conduct a feasibility study for a green hydrogen plant powered by a 300 MW solar PV park in the country.
According to a report by the local online business news portal Economica.net, the selected consultant will be expected to also recommend turnkey design and execution of the PV park and green hydrogen production plant. Last date to submit bids is July 12, 2022.
Under phase I, the utility aims to construct a 300 MW solar PV park near the former Făgăraș-Hoghiz reservoir, connected to the National Energy System (SEN). Under phase II, the green hydrogen plant with 100 MW electrolyzer capacity will be built to produce around 15,000 tons annually, powered by solar power from the plant. For the electrolyzer process, water will be used from the nearby Olt river.
Hidroelectrica estimates the feasibility study to cost €2.5 million, as per the tender information uploaded by the hydro power company in the country’s e-procurement portal SEAP. Further information can be availed from Hidroelectrica.
In March 2022, the Romanian Energy Ministry launched a tender for 950 MW wind and solar energy projects
