Sterling Generators Private Ltd., a branch of Sterling and Wilson Private Ltd., and Tecnicas Reunidas, S.A. have partnered to create a 1 MWe hydrogen electrolyser, which will be commissioned in Q4 2024 and scaled up to 10MW. The official agreement was signed at the Spanish Embassy in India with other dignitaries such as the Spanish Ambassador, leading representatives from both organisations, diplomats, and government officials.
The CEO of Sterling Generators Private Limited, Sanjay Jadhav, emphasised his confidence in green hydrogen as a flexible energy source and noted how it may support India’s resilience, creativity, and energy independence. He underlined that by utilising the country’s plentiful solar and wind resources for green hydrogen generation, the cooperation will help the country adopt green hydrogen in line with its aggressive renewable energy ambitions.
The partnership would make it easier to incorporate green hydrogen into India’s energy system, according to Joaquín Pérez de Ayala, Director of Energy Transition at Tecnicas Reunidas SA. In addition to boosting technical collaboration and information exchange between India and Spain, he underlined its role in decarbonising difficult sectors like heavy industry and transportation and in advancing innovation and economic development in the direction of a sustainable future.
As stressed in the joint declaration following the last bilateral summit, this collaboration is an example of how India and Spain’s bilateral relations are expanding, especially in vital areas like green hydrogen. The importance of strategic alliances in fields including clean energy, smart cities, health, and defense was highlighted during this summit.
