Student Solar Ambassadors workshop at IIT-Bombay for one lakh students
In the face of growing challenges of climate change and rising global temperatures, it’s wiser to move towards adopting renewable energy. As part of its Diamond Jubilee celebrations and to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, IIT-Bombay will be organising the ‘Student Solar Ambassadors Workshop’ on October 2 this year. 5,000 students from 80-100 schools will come together at the institute’s campus and will learn to assemble their own solar study lamps designed to help them fulfil their study light needs. At the end of the event, students will take-home a solar study lamp made by them. If students in their early age learn to make their own solar devices and use them, not only are they likely to be future users of the solar energy but also be promoting its usage in their own generations and become Student Solar Ambassadors.
Also, more than one lakh students across the country will take a part in similar events apart from these 5,000 students. IIT-Bombay will train master trainers who will then provide training to one lakh students to make their own lamps. The workshop aims at piquing the youngsters’ curiosity towards clean technologies.
