In Short : Sundev Renewables plans a $500 million investment in a green data center in Madhya Pradesh, boosting the state’s sustainable infrastructure. The project will enhance renewable energy integration, supporting AI and cloud computing. This aligns with India’s push for eco-friendly digital growth, strengthening MP’s position as a key hub for green technology and data storage solutions.

In Detail : Sunil Jain, founder and partner of Sundev Renewables LLP, announced plans to invest USD 500 million (approximately Rs 4,330 crore) over the next five years to establish a 750 megawatt data center in Madhya Pradesh, contingent upon its sustainability. Jain shared his intentions during the MP Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025 and called on the state government to introduce a clear policy for green data centers.

“There’s a significant opportunity for international companies looking to establish data centers in India to support their operations in regions like the US and Europe. I’m ready to invest USD 500 million in a green data center in Madhya Pradesh,” Jain stated.

He emphasized the growing demand for data mining and the immense energy consumption of data centers. “Data centers are large consumers of electricity, and global investors increasingly prefer green solutions,” he added, urging Madhya Pradesh to take proactive steps to develop environmentally friendly data centers.

Jain highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s central location as a strategic advantage for data centers, suggesting the state could become a key hub for data infrastructure by providing direct access to optical fiber networks. “Some initial steps have already been taken in the state,” he remarked.

He also praised the state’s electricity tariff of Rs 2.15 per unit, noting it as an ideal rate for powering data centers efficiently. However, he acknowledged the challenge of ensuring a continuous power supply for such operations. “We could begin with a 50% green energy model and gradually move towards a fully sustainable data center. This could be a game changer for Madhya Pradesh,” Jain said.
