Tata Power Solar wins MNRE Award for Rooftop Solar Power Projects
Tata Power Solar, India’s largest integrated solar company, has won the ‘Rooftop Solar Power Projects’ award from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in the Channel Partner/EPC contractor category. The National Excellence Awards 2016, instituted by MNRE for the first time, were presented on 7th June’16 at the National Workshop on Rooftop Solar Power.
Tata Power Solar has commissioned 112.5 MW of rooftop projects till 2016, which was instrumental in getting this award.As per MNRE, the awards are presented to encourage efficiency and positive feedback to various government bodies as well as private sector. Rooftop power plants are expected to constitute 40% of the Government’s 100 GW target solar capacity to be achieved by 2022. Recently, MNRE announced a 30% subsidy for all residential and non-profit organizations installing rooftop solar.
Two of Tata Power Solar’s rooftop installations were also adjudged winners at the National Excellence Awards 2016. These included the 12 MW installation for R.S.S.B. Educational & Environmental Society (RSSB-EES) and the 1.8 MW solar project commissioned for IIT Roorkee.Speaking on the award, Ashish Khanna, ED and CEO, Tata Power Solar, said, “We are honoured to be chosen by MNRE for this distinguished award. This recognition by the Government is a testimony of the work done by us, including marquee projects for RSSB-EES and IIT Roorkee. I believe our strength lies in the quality and reliability of our products, as well as ensuring customer satisfaction. Tata Power Solar was ranked the #1 rooftop player for commercial, industrial and residential sector by Bridge to India in 2015.
