- Customer base crosses 2.6 million mark in FY17

Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, announced that the Company’s generation crossed 51,000 Million Units (MUs) of power for the first time, collectively from all its power plants in the year 2016-2017. The Company also reported a significant increase in generation of 15.2%, with the total power generation capacity of Tata Power in India standing at 10,577 MW from various fuel sources such as thermal, hydroelectric power, renewable energy (wind and solar PV) and waste heat recovery, thereby reinforcing its position as the largest integrated power company in India.
The Company also has a significant presence in the clean energy space with a gross installed capacity of 3,141 MW. In FY ’17, Tata Power’s total customer base crossed the 2.6 million mark, as Mumbai Distribution’s consumer base crossed 6,70,000 customers with over 1 lakh consumers on Tata Power’s wires. For more than a decade now, Tata Power has been offering affordable power tariff across most consumer categories and the remarkable increase in the company’s customer base is evidence of the same. AT&C losses at Delhi (TPDDL) are expected to be 8.60% for FY17, one of the lowest in the country, as against DERC target of 10.50%.
Training & Certification of employees and contract workmen was carried out in collaboration with Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI). The Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) is an endeavour from the Tata Power Company to empower youth and others with employable skills, especially in the Power and allied sectors, and to address the skill gap challenge faced by the Indian Power Sector. TPSDI imparted training for more than 77,866 man-days to 10,822 workmen across its 4 centres and also offered 26 courses to over 460 batches in FY17 and was awarded CBIP award 2016 for capacity building and training.
Club Enerji, Tata Power’s nationwide movement, has been ceaselessly working towards spreading the message of being responsible citizens by conservation of energy and resources across the country and instilling civic and moral values, with a strategic focus on nation building. In FY17, this club has sensitised over 2.3 million people and garnered a saving of 2.9 million units and sensitised over 280 schools during the year.
